1. Appraisal is a system of interpersonal meanings. Appraisai is concerned with evaluation – the kinds of attitudes that are negotiated in a text, the strenght of the feelings involved and the ways in which values are sourced and readers aligned.
a) Affect is feelings or how people expresss their feelings in discourses.
Example :
Ø My mother was angry about my fault.
Ø I felt sad that Indonesian team lose in “Bukit Jalil stadium” last Sunday.
b) Judgement is character or people’s behavior.
Example :
Ø My mother is lovely person
Ø Doni is handsome smart boy.
c) Appreciation is a value of things.
Example :
Ø My brother has a broken heart.
Ø I am studying in good college.
